All QAS products for Windows comprise of a Windows installer that guides the user through the product install. In order for the installer to commence, there needs to be sufficient space on the machine to install the application files. The amount of required space is detailed in the setup.ini file that is on the original product CD image. For QAS Batch V4 this value is 1174MB.
When installing QAS Batch V4 on a Citrix server, the Windows installer may fail to initiate complaining that there is not enough space to install the application on the system drive despite there actually being more than sufficient memory space to accommodate for the QAS Batch install on the actual Citrix server.
Symptoms of this install problem during a QAS Batch V4 install:
This problem has only been identified when using QAS Batch V4 in conjunction with a Citrix server. There should be no problem installing the application on a standalone PC.
When running Setup.exe, the following dialog box will be presented:
1. Log into your machine as an administrator.
Please make sure that log into the Citrix server in install mode and not execute mode.
2. Load the QAS Batch Application CD into your CD ROM drive.
Having placed your application CD into your CD ROM drive, navigate to your CD ROM drive through your my Computer icon on the desktop.
3. Copy the CD image to your desktop
To copy the whole image, select all the items and then right click your mouse button and go to copy. Create a new folder on your desktop (right click on the desktop and go to ‘New’ and select ‘New Folder’), step into the folder, right click and then select the ‘Paste’ option.
4. Make changes to the setup.ini file
Open up the setup.ini file on the CD image on your desktop and change the line:
FreeDiskSpace=1174
To
FreeDiskSpace=0192

5. Save the changes to the setup.ini file
Once the changes to the setup.ini file have been made, go to ‘File’ and ‘Save’. You can now exit this file.
6. Run the Setup.exe again
You should now be able to run the setup.exe successfully and follow the installer to complete the Batch V4 install.
