Since all QAS capture products use pointers to handle query strings, not string data types, the short answer is that there is no limit to the length of the search string, provided of course there is sufficient free memory to store the query.

However, it is worth noting that passing a long string to, for example, to QuickAddress Pro may be outside of the scope of the intended functionality and therefore the license of the search engine. It is also likely to greatly impede matching. The address capture search engine is optimised for a minimal amount of concise information, and adding information will only constrict the search being performed, especially if it contains errors.

Conversely the QuickAddress cleaning search engine, such as that used in QuickAddress Batch, is designed for the express purpose of analysing a full address string that may contain errors. This product is designed with the aim of verifying existing addresses and is far more suited to full address verification.
