Upgrading from Pro Web V3 to Pro Web V6

Introduction

This upgrade will require a new installation of the software and data files as these are not compiled in a different format. To complete the upgrade a new integration into your web pages would need to be completed. Your Upgrade project should plan for around 3-6 days for integration time which does not include testing. We offer integration assistance through our Professional Services department at a chargeable service with a guide time of 1-3 days integration time.

The architecture from Pro Web V3.0x has changed significantly from a TCP-IP or CGI product to one that uses SOAP and XML.

The methods of performing an integration such as using Pro Web as a COM object is no longer available in the latest version.

Requirements

You will require the following information or resources to perform this upgrade. If you cannot meet the requirements, you will need to consult your IT department/ IT administrator.

1. The location on your computer of the current data files

2. The current QAS program files location

3. What data you will require for the new product (address data, data plus sets, other countries)

4. Ensure there is a nominated person to perform the quarterly data updates. Failure to perform updates will result in the data expiring and the product not working. If this nominated person changes, you should contact us to get the address or name information updated on your account. 

5. Information of what your requirements for the Pro Web integration are. Things you will need to consider - What kind of search will you require, what capture scenario you would like to implement. Information about this can be found in the ‘Using pro Web section of the Integration Guide’.

6. The developer will require knowledge of the language they are integrating Pro Web into and also some experience of calling functions from a WSDL.

Steps to Upgrade

1. Install Pro Web V6, and the new GBR data files in an appropriate location. Information on how to do the install can be found in the ‘Installation section of the Installation and Administration Guide’

2. Test your installation using the test harness and the latest ‘test postcode’. 

3. Once this is working you can proceed to set up our sample pages or to start your own integration. Sample code can be found on the installation CD and the downloads area of this site.
