Upgrading from Pro V3 to Pro V6

Requirements

You will require the following information or resources to perform this upgrade. If you cannot meet the requirements, you will need to consult your IT department/ IT administrator.

1. The location on your computer of the current data files

2. The current QAS program files location

3. What data you will require for the new product (address data, data plus sets, other countries)

4. Ensure there is a nominated person to perform the quarterly data updates. Failure to perform updates will result in the data expiring and the product not working. If this nominated person changes, you should contact us to get the address or name information updated on your account.

5. Things you will need to consider - What kind of search will you require, what address layout you will require, and any pasting configurations that you need.

6. If you would like to take advantage of our Electronic Updates product then please contact your Account Manager.

Steps to be Taken

1. Check that your current Pro V3 product works, and is configured as you expect.

2. On the Pro V6 Setup disk, run setup.exe.

3. Choose to install a new copy of the software (do not perform an update, as this will overwrite your existing settings. Check the installation requirements in the Pro V6 “Getting Started Guide” for more information on system requirements for Pro V6.

4. Select to install with the Default settings.

5. When prompted, choose to install your data.

At this point, Pro V6 should now be installed and configured with the default settings.

6. Open the Pro V6 Configuration Editor (through the Start Menu) and check that the data and licence keys have been installed correctly.

7. Navigate to the Pro V6 installation directory on your machine, and run the quimpn.exe executable. This utility will attempt to port your settings from the V3 installation to the V6 installation.

8. Select your V3 configuration file for this product (i.e. select the file from the current V3 installation directory. This will generally be C:\qaddress\pro32.315).

9. Point the program to the V6 qawserve.ini configuration file, and click finish. Then click OK, and Done.

At this point, the settings from Pro V3 should have been applied to the new V6 installation.

10. Open the Pro V6 Configuration Editor (as above).

• Check that the layouts contain the elements you expect (you should compare them with the listing in the GBR Data Guide (http://support.qas.com/data_guide__united_kingdom_1657.htm).
• Check the data is installed correctly (for more information on this, see the “Configuring Pro” section of the “Getting Started Guide”.)

11. Open Pro V6. For information on how to use the new interface, look at the built-in help functions
