Guide to Element Splitting in QAS Batch, Pro and Pro Web

Introduction

This document is intended to serve as a guide to configuring the Qawserve.ini file to split individual address elements into their constituent sub-elements. The configuration and splitting of DataPlus elements is also discussed.

Address Element Splitting

QAS products have the capability to parse up to 64 separate address elements. The codes listed below are all the element codes available in the QAS products and are listed in logical order from the smallest to largest range address element. Address sub-elements are indicated in parentheses. Where no sub-elements are indicated, the entire set of available sub-elements is returned.

DataPlus Element Splitting

DataPlus element codes are also stored in the Qawserve.ini file and configured through the Configuration Editor. These codes are data dependent rather than product dependent and hence vary from country to country. The only exception to this is the Barcode pseudo-DataPlus set (AUSBAR.) that is derived from the Reed-Solomon barcode algorithm and supplied by default with all V2 products. At present there are five optional DataPlus sets supplied in Australia.

Census Collection District DataPlus Set (CCD)
The Census Collection District DataPlus set (CCD) returns a code for land segments across Australia. This data set is not particularly meaningful on its own but can effectively be used in association with other data sets.

Lat/Long CCD level DataPlus Set (GCCD)
The Lat/Long CCD level DataPlus set (GCCD) returns a latitude and longitude for the centroid of each of the 35,000 CCD segments. The set has two sub-elements, Latitude and Longitude, each of which can be placed on a separate line.

Lat/Long Household Level DataPlus Set (GHSE)
The Lat/Long Household Level DataPlus set (GHSE) returns the latitude and longitude for the centroid of household properties across Australia. As with the CCD level Lat/Longs, this set also has two sub-elements.

Relations Code & Description DataPlus Set (REL)
The Relations Code and Description DataPlus set (REL) describes the household structure at address level. The set has two sub-elements, a Code and a Description, that can be returned separately.

Mosaic Code and Description DataPlus Set (MOS)
This set, as with the Relations set, provides a geo-demographic code and description as sub-elements.
