Background

Microsoft Windows Vista is the current version of Microsoft's Windows operating system series. Windows Vista Business and Enterprise Editions replaced Windows XP Professional Edition in November 2006 and Vista Home Basic/Premium replaced XP Home Edition in January 2007. Two other versions, Vista Starter and Vista Ultimate, are intended for markets that Microsoft felt were not adequately supported by any Windows XP version.

Improved security was a primary design goal for Vista. Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing initiative, which aims to improve public trust in its products, has had a direct effect on its development. This effort has resulted in a number of new security and safety features.

Product Compatibility

QuickAddress Rapid 3.15 Plug & Go and previous versions have known issues when installed or used in a Windows Vista environment.

  • Paste functionality will not be available (for pasting addresses to your database) when used in a Windows Vista operating system.
  • Due to the additional security settings the following tasks require the user to be logged in with administrator rights:

o Installation and configuration of the product, either via the product's Configuration editor or manually editing the INI files.

o Performing data updates.

  • Attempting to perform any of these tasks without administrator rights, will result in the product not being configured as expected. Although changes may appear to have been applied, they will be lost upon restarting the computer.
  • Some help files will not work. Please visit the Support website (see ‘Related Links’) for technical documentation on the product.
