Summary

The document describes how to retrieve the product System Information dialog box. This dialog box provides a wealth of information regarding your QAS product configuration.

Some of the useful information accessible from the System Information window is:

  • The vintage (version) of QAS data files in use. (This is useful information to find should you be experiencing data expiry).
  • The number of days before data expiry for individual data sets.
  • The folder location of your QAS data files.
  • The folder location of your product configuration settings.
  • The folder location of your QAS product.

Solution

If you are running QAS Plug & Go (desktop) products (on DOS or Windows), or QAS user Interface (UI) API products (on Windows or Unix), then you can access the System Information window by pressing:

Windows/DOS

1. Start up your QAS product ensuring it is maximized and in focus.

2. Press Alt + = (the ‘+’ sign signifies that the first key is held down while the second key is pressed).

Unix

1. Start up your QAS product ensuring it is maximized and in focus.

2. Press Esc followed by = whilst you have focus on any of the QAS UI screens

(Please note that this functionality is not available with low level APIs).

Overleaf is an example of the screen that will appear for QAS Pro Plug and Go Version 6.10. Your screenshot may differ but the same principles apply.

The example above illustrates that the product in use is QAS Pro Version 6.10 for Windows 32-bit. Using the scroll bar uncovers more information such as location of the data files, and the number of days before the data expires for each country database installed.

The System Information window can be cancelled by pressing:

  • On Windows: Press Alt + F4, Esc or the shut down button in the top right hand corner.
  • On DOS: Press Alt + F4 or Esc.
  • On Unix: Press Ctrl+ D.
