Summary

A DataPlus set is an extra data set which can be returned by QAS products (e.g. grid references or names). This document explains how to install DataPlus sets for the QAS UK product line.

Solution

The data files (.DAT) need to be activated by files with a .INF extension. The .INF files are generated by the installer program when the password is entered, and are not stored on the CD directly.

To install a DataPlus set under Windows, insert the CD containing the DataPlus set. Run SETUP.EXE and when prompted choose to perform data install. Select the DataPlus set(s) you wish to install and the data directory to store the files. Most DataPlus sets will prompt you for a password to install the data. You should have been sent this password with the product CD, and it will be listed on the bottom of the despatch note as shown below:

If you cannot locate the password, please contact Support.

To install a DataPlus set on UNIX, you will need the DataPlus CD for UNIX. This CD contains all of the files needed. It is then necessary to copy the .DAT and .INF files (e.g. QAGRID.DAT and QAGRID.INF for the 100m Grid DataPlus set) from the CD to the data directory on the UNIX machine. This can be done by mounting the CD on the UNIX box and copying the files, or transferring them by FTP in binary mode.

Once the data has been installed, the corresponding QAS product may need to be configured to return the DataPlus set. This can be done using the Configuration Editor, or the configuration file.
