This Tech Doc covers how to install multiple copes of Pro Web on a single machine. It is written for Pro Web 5.22 but applies to most versions of Pro Web
In certain situations it may be necessary to have several installs of Pro Web on a single server. These may include:
- Load-balancing
- Multiple websites
- Internal / External Sites (i.e. Intranet and Customer-facing website)
Here we give the example of installing 2 copies of Pro Web 5.2, one with a Per Click licence and one with a Per Seat licence.
1. Install Pro Web (Per Seat)
Install Pro Web as per normal (see separate installation instructions).
Use and record a suitable port number (e.g. save details in My Documents/ProWebPorts.txt).
Change the path for the sample pages to the default, followed by “Per Click”.
When prompted, install data as per normal from CDs (see separate installation instructions).
More help on installing:
2. Open Configuration Editor for Pro Web (Per Seat)
Go to Database Information, and click on Licences. Enter the Per Seat licence key and click Add.
3. Change “QuickAddress Pro Server 5.22” service to “QuickAddress Pro Server 5.22 (Per Seat)” service
Open a command prompt.
Browse to the directory for the Per Seat installation.
Run: QASWVDN.exe –remove, see figure 1.

4. Repeat step 1 for Pro Web (Per Click)
Repeat the step but substituting for “Per Click” where appropriate (path, name, service name).
Make sure it is running on a different port – record this in ProWebPorts.txt.
5. Configure Pro Web (Per Click)
Go to Database Information, and click on Licences. Enter the Per Click licence key and click Add.
Insert the data CD. Browse to your CD drive and run setup.exe. The installer will then install data for both products as per normal.
6. Repeat step 3 for Pro Web (Per Click).
Repeat the step but substituting for “Per Click” where appropriate (path, name, service name).
7. Start Pro Web services
Open services.msc (Start –> Run –> “services.msc”)
Change both Pro Web services to “Automatic” (right click on each one, select “Properties” then change “Startup type” to “Automatic”.
Start both Pro Web services (right click, select “Start”).
If it won’t start, make sure that you set the 2 Pro Web installs to run on different ports.
It will then look like figure 3 (started and Automatic).

8. Test the installations
Run the test harness for each install (Start -> Programs -> QuickAddress Pro Web 5.22, then click on Per Seat or Per Click, then click Test Harness). Search on the test postcode for the dataset you are using, this will be specified in your software pack.
