How do I change the owner account of the Pro Web 6.30 server?
This document outlines how to change the owner account of the Pro Web 6.30 server. This may be necessary if any of the issues below are encountered.
The Pro Web 6.30 server runs under the NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService by default, and as such, may not have the appropriate permissions to perform certain functions. The issues listed below (not exhaustive) may also be present as a result of the server running under this account.
§ The server is unable to restart and reports that it is unable to create a log file, as specified in the qawserve.ini file.
§ After adding a metered licence key, no counter details are visible in the Counter Administration view of the Administrator Console.
§ Any changes made to address layouts via the Configuration Editor are lost after restarting the Pro Web server.
In order to resolve these, it is recommended that the owner account of the Pro Web server be changed to Local System.
To change the owner account of the Pro Web server, follow the instructions below
§ Open Services console by navigating to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services, or alternatively Start > Run > services.mmc
§ Stop the QuickAddress Pro Server 6.30 service
§ Open the Properties view and select the Log On tab to display the current owner account of the server
§ Select the Local System account radio button to change to this account (see Figure 1)
§ Start the server for the changes to take effect
