Summary

Updating your Telephone Preference Service (TPS) data

The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for best practice use of TPS data within the QAS Batch product.
For more detail about the TPS, visit this website: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

Background

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a free service where consumers may record their preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing phone calls. It is a legal requirement that organisations, including charities, political parties, do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS without consent.
Once a number has been registered it will become effective in 28 days.

Experian QAS provide a TPS data file that can be used with the QAS Batch product to help your compliancy with legislation related to the TPS.

Solution

Step1- Electronic Updates (EU)
TPS data for use with QAS Batch is provided via QAS Electronic Updates (EU). EU is a product that automatically ensures your Experian QAS products are using the latest reference data. If you have QAS Batch with Suppression, you should have an account with our Electronic Updates Product. If you do not have an account or have not configured EU, the following link provides a full guide:
http://support.qas.com/a_full_guide_to_setting_up_electronic_updates_1746.htm

Step 2- How will you know when TPS is available for download
Once the data is on EU; this will automatically be downloaded to the location on your personal machines which you choose to specify. You may configure the settings to receive alerts for you to install your data.

Step 3 – For Best Practice Use
The TPS is uploaded on to EU fortnightly and made available to customers. We recommend updating your TPS fortnightly for best practice use of QAS Batch. In order to gain the most benefit from TPS data with QAS Batch it's important to subsequently perform fortnightly database clean and suppression runs as soon as you have received the latest TPS data via EU. This will help maximise your compliancy with TPS legislation.

If you are not currently receiving TPS data

If you are licenced for QAS Batch but do not currently receive TPS data and would like to do so, please contact your Account Manager to discuss licensing options.
