Batch closed unexpectedly or has an error "New DataPlus file format detected"
Summary
A fundamental part of any Address Management Strategy is suppression. Suppressing your data involves removing those people from your database that no longer reside at a particular property, those that have passed away or who have registered with a preference service and do not wish to receive information from you.
Absolute Contacts is similar to National Change of Address data in that it contains information on people who have changed address, as well as their forwarding address.
The Suppression data disk sent out to all customers using Batch with Suppression now contains the Absolute Contacts suppression data set. However this suppression set can only be used with Batch 6.83 and above.
If a Batch run is configured to use Absolute Contact Suppression and the version of Batch is lower than 6.83 e.g. 6.01 then one of two problems can occur.
Errors caused
• When the Batch engine starts and you try and perform a Batch run, it disappears without explanation or error messages.
• New DataPlus file format detected (see screenshot below).

Solution
1. Unselect Absolute Contacts Suppression when configuring a run
Either begin a new run or reconfigure the run which did not succeed. You can then move to the ‘Select Data sets’ or ‘Select Suppression Datasets’ part of configuration. Here the ‘Absolute Contacts’ suppression set needs to be un-selected.

2. Continue with the configuration
Continue to configure the rest of the Batch run. If you are reconfiguring the run then just skip this and press next until you get to the ‘Finish’ stage and then begin the cleaning process.
3. Results
The results should be that Batch does not unexpectedly disappear without any error messages appearing. The cause of the problem is that you cannot use Absolute contact suppression data with any Batch below version 6.83. So when the batch engine starts it then terminates unexpectedly.
The other result is that the error message regarding a new Dataplus File format no longer appears and the Batch run can be completed.
